World Cup Championship Update 2026 for the Official categories:
- Each Official category in ATUSA OFFICIAL CHAMPIONSHIP, the US PRELIMINARY OF TANGO BUENOS AIRES FESTIVAL AND DANCE WORLD CUP – will have one champion couple who will represent the Preliminary at TANGO BUENOS AIRES FESTIVAL AND DANCE WORLD CUP 2026 – and not the city of origin or residence of the dancers, without exception.
- If the champion couple in any of the official categories renounces to participate in TANGO BUENOS AIRES FESTIVAL AND DANCE WORLD CUP, it will automatically also renounce to the Prizes (see below), leaving both members of the couple unable to participate in TANGO BUENOS AIRES FESTIVAL & DANCE WORLD CUP 2025.
- For the competition to be considered official, there must be at least ten (10) couples in the Stage Tango category and at least twenty (20) couples in the Tango de Pista category.
- The Champion couples from Preliminaries with fewer than 40 couples in Tango de Pista and fewer than 20 couples in the case of Tango Escenario (Stage Tango), will compete directly in the Quarter Finals instance along with the couples who have qualified in the qualifying rounds. (The Quarterfinals is a new stage of the TANGO BUENOS AIRES DANCE WORLD CUP will take place on a specific day between the Qualifying Rounds and the Semifinal Rounds).
- In those cases where the competition in one or both categories has lost its official character for not having the minimum participating couples, the Organization of the PRELIMINARY will be exempted from the obligation to grant the winning couple the prize consisting of full coverage of costs of travel and stay. In this case, the Organization may choose to offer alternative prizes for the non-official competition.
2026 PRIZES FOR TANGO DE PISTA (Official Category)
First Place:
The first-place winning couple of the Argentine Tango USA Championships will receive the following (if there are 20 to 40 competing couples):
- A Trophy for winning the Argentine Tango USA Official Championship 2026 – Tango de Pista category, First Place.
- The Official Title of Argentine Tango USA Tango de Pista Official Champions 2026.
- Round-trip airfare from the city of residence of winning couple to the City of Buenos Aires to compete at the Quarterfinals of the Tango BA Dance World Cup 2026.
- Accommodation for the days of the Quarter Finals, Semifinals and Finals of TANGO BUENOS AIRES FESTIVAL & DANCE WORLD CUP 2026.
