Melisa Sacchi

Since childhood, classical dance marked the beginning of a long journey that would take Melissa to develop what is now her main work and cultural activity: the tango.

She started training tango 2001 in the south of Greater Buenos Aires with different teachers, tango dancers and choreographers.

In 2007 Melisa was selected through an audition together with 21 other tango couples to enter the Academy of Styles of Tango Argentino (ACETA), where he received further development for a year at the hands of important teachers milongueros as Carlos and Rosa Perez, Carlos and Maria Rivarola, Gloria and Eduardo Arquimbau, Osvaldo and Coca, “the skinny” Dany, among others. In addition, recognized teachers and choreographers such as Francisco Forquera, Horacio Godoy, Leonardo Cuello, Natalia Hills and Mario Morales were some teachers who left their legacy throughout this cycle.

In 2008 she studied Folklore Dance and Tango at the National Institute of Art (IUNA).

Melisa worked as a dancer in various famous tango show houses of Buenos Aires, including Milonguera, Bar Sur, La Recova 1810, Los 36 billares, Boca Tango, Café Tortoni, Taconeando and El Querandí.

In 2012 Melisa met Cristian Palomo, who thereafter would become his dance partner. Together they danced at Jesus Velazquez´ Tango Company, and at the ballet “Roots and traditions.” They also joined the cast of the show “Tango Yeca” the cast of the show of Gran Cafe Tortoni in Buenos Aires. They were part of the staff of teachers at the “Escuela Argentina de Tango”, performed exhibitions in many milongas of Buenos Aires and are one of the dance couples at the tango show El Querandi.

In 2015 Cristian and Melisa were selected through an audition with other tango couples to enter the National Space Tango Argentino (NCDs), where they received training for a year at the hands of important milongueros masters like Eduardo Pareja, Chino Perico “skinny” Dany, among others. In addition, teachers and choreographers such as Horacio Godoy, Guillermina Quiroga and Carlos Rivarola were some teachers who left their legacy throughout this period.

After some year of working together, Melissa and Cristian develop their own personal style. In 2015 they obtained the title of Metropolitan Champions in Buenos Aires. In the same year, they got the second place at the Tango World Cup in Tango Pista category and were finalists at the Stage tango category.

On August 30, 2016, Melisa and Cristian fulfilled one of their biggest dreams, they became the World Tango Champions in Tango de Pista at the tango World Cup in the city of Buenos Aires.

His love for dance began in 1999 in the municipal Folkloric Ballet of Gral. San Martin “The Tilcara” where he participated in various events and national festivals, such as the National Festival of the Malambo in Laborde, the Pre Cosquín and the Festival Bridge Mothers in Puerto Madero, among others. He worked as a dancer with renowned musicians and singers of Argentine popular folklore among which include Los Nocheros, Tamara Castro, Cuti and Roberto Carabajal.

Cristian participated in Cosquín, the largest and most recognized festival of Argentine folk dances held every year in the province of Cordoba, resulting finalist from 2000 to 2008 consecutively in different fields of dance From 2004 to 2006 he was director and choreographer of the Ballet Folkloric Dances Kausani with which he participated in various local and provincial events.

His first contact with tango-dance began in 2003 when he joined the National Institute of Art (IUNA) to study and get a degree in Folklore and Folk Dance Tango.

From 2006 to 2012 he joined the Ballet Criollo in Buenos Aires with which he participated in several international tours with the show “Argentina Pampa y Tango” touring Spain and Portugal in 2008, and at the International Festival of Latin American Dance Antofagasta in Chile, 2010.

In 2012 Cristian met Melisa, who thereafter would become his dance partner. Together they danced at Master Jesus Velazquez Tango Company, and at the ballet “Roots and traditions.” They also joined the cast of the show “Tango Yeca” the cast of the show of Gran Cafe Tortoni in Buenos Aires. In December 2014 Cristian was selected by Mora Godoy to join her show Chantecler performing at the TOKYU THEATRE Orb Tokyo, Japan.
